First Official Post
I’m pretty excited to get this thing going. By thing, obviously I’m referring to the blog you are reading. I’ve been fiddling around with different blog formats for a bit now, and I’ve settled right here. Welcome to THEDAUVO.COM! I am, of course, The DauvO. The one and only… as far as I know. In a moment I will introduce myself a bit more in depth, but first I wanted to tell you, “You can DO it!” I know you’ve heard it before, but it’s true and that will be the underlying theme of every post you see here. Feel free to comment, subscribe, or walk away. I’m “In it to win.” No matter what may come.
Me
To be honest, those who know me would tell you that this “Me” section is hard for me to write. But, here goes.
Starting with most importantly, my family:
I am happily married, with one daughter, who is growing so fast. My wife “The Albanian Princess,” is hard-working, beautiful, loving, and energetic. It’s not hard to see where my daughter gets her energy. As you can see, I’m going to begin this blog with some anonymity. Hope you don’t mind. Gives me something to surprise you with in the future.
Currently we live in a small town (paese) in Italy. Living ‘la bella vita’ you would think. Well, it is true our life is beautiful. But our day is truly not so different than many of you. Both my wife and I are university graduates, and place a high importance on staying educated in your life. So you can be sure our kids will (hopefully) grasp that appreciation as well. I said kids… .yes I did. We have one at the moment, but I’m sure a few more will be arriving in the next ??? Years. We are not yet over the hill. I feel like I’m using a lot quotes. haha.
Anyway, ….filler word… We have a beautiful home, modest, but beautiful. In fact our home, is a large part of the reason I am starting this blog. I like many others, have experienced success, trial, loss, and despair. Through it all, the thing that remains most important is finding the people you love, and reminding yourself that they are the “why” which encapsulates your daily choices.
We are religious/spiritual/however you want to refer to it. We try to achieve honesty and integrity. We’re far from perfect, but we will continue to grow together for years to come.
Why start a blog?
Like I said before, it is important to identify your ‘why’ in life. I’ve learned this time and time again. What is interesting to note however is each time that we reflect upon our ‘why’ it evolves. What was once a priority has gone by the wayside and seems insignificant in comparison to the ‘why’ of today.
My why can be summarized as ‘Becoming who they deserve.’ I will let you explore what that could mean on your own, although I think it is pretty self-explanatory.
Throughout our daily choices and experiences it is common that we pit our personal ‘why’ against another’s. Who is to say who’s why is more important, but in truth if the two must confront each other, typically the victor holds their ‘why’ closer to heart. Or in other words, abandoning their reason for action would cause them the greater pain.
I am not suggesting that this blog is going to be thrown against another blog Pokemon style. What I am inferring is that although there are many blogs out there that share similar topics, I feel that sharing my thoughts and insights on these pages will improve who I am, be it in the most minuscule way, for me that would still be a victory in support of my ‘why’.
Inspiration
The main content of this blog will be ‘journaling’ my experiences in real estate. Currently, we have a townhouse in Idaho, and a Villa a Schiera in Italy. Within the next 30 -45 days a new partner and I will be purchasing yet another property in Italy with the intention of a fix-n-flip. In the next posts I will be describing with more detail the steps we have and will be taking for future endeavors.
Additionally this blog will serve as a workbook platform in my Italian learning. I’ve lived here for over 2 years and still have not gained a sufficient mastery of the language. SO, here I have found new motivation.
Finally, living in Italy who can resist a visit or two to the beautiful sites, right? I will also touch on the subjects of travel and keep a ledger of where we’ve been and what experiences we encounter as a family.
Ciao!
