Who am I
If you are here on this blog for the first time, Welcome! My name is DauvO and I live in Italy. I have since 2013 and it is here where I met my wife and where my 3 children were born. Since 2019, I’ve shared my experiences in investing in Italian real estate with anyone willing to listen. You may or may not be aware that in 2020 and 2021 there was an explosion of interest in either moving to Italy or just owning a piece of Italian real estate. That interest is still holding strong and so I decided it’s time to make that possible for one of you my subscribers! So if you didn’t figure it out yet.. That’s my subtle way of saying head to the channel and hit the subscribe button right now!
What I’m giving away
A few posts back, I shared that I made an offer on a 2 euro home auction in Sambuca of Sicily. Also in video form, It is by far one of the most watched youtube videos as of late. After posting the video, I received a lot of support from you guys in the form of comments and friendly emails offering your congratulations and advice to me and my family! I thank you deeply and apologize right now for hiding that it was my intention to give the home away from the moment I saw the property on my trip to Sicily in 2020. But it wasn’t until this year that the stars aligned and made my plan a realistic opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up.
For those of you who missed that post, I actually won 2 homes that will be remodeled and shared here, and on my youtube channel, and once completed will be given as a prize to one of you reading this blog right now!
Why I’m holding a giveaway
I know there will be plenty of skeptics out there, but I assure you my intentions are genuine. Obviously this giveaway has its strategic benefits for growing this community. But this giveaway is something that I’ve planned for a long time because it fits within the core of who I am as a person and therefore aligned with my community goals. To illustrate, If you’ve followed me long enough you’ve seen other projects and giveaways that I’ve organized. I even held weekly live streams for a short period offering the opportunity to win a raffle ticket giving you a chance to win a home in Rome or Calabria. The homes were being given away by a third party. You could even follow a link to purchase more raffle tickets offering the chance to win one of these homes. 100’s of people signed up to join the raffle and are most likely waiting for the continuation of this project. To this day, people still continue to sign up for the raffle upon discovering my past livestreams.
I was happy! The community goals were being realized and All was well… until… I was posed with a question,
‘Dauvo, I would really like to buy a raffle ticket, but can you assure me that this giveaway is legit?’ …
well..uhh… No…!
I couldn’t honestly answer ‘Yes’ with a clear conscience. I hadn’t even met the organizer face to face!
After a bit of brainstorming, I came up with an idea! At that moment I wrote to the giveaway organizer and asked to have permission to enter the home and tour it here in order to share it on my channel.. I was happy that my request was accepted and I began arranging to tour these properties. Well after months scheduling attempts, and making myself available on multiple trips to Calabria.. it’s become clear that working with that third party is not going to work for me. I’m not saying that their house giveaways are not going to happen.. In fact I wish them the best and hope their projects go as planned! But having no hard evidence, or control over the results, I don’t feel good about continuing with that collaboration. Therefore, I’ll be unlisting those past live streams until I am convinced it fits within all of your best interests
With this new project, I can proudly say the community goals are finally being realized and I’ll have full control on the results of this giveaway! So consider this my official holiday gift to you!
Why am I giving away a 1 euro home?
So you might have seen the state of this property and thought.. Why is he giving away such an ugle property? No one will want that! To answer that..
This community’s mission has been to show the real Italy, while focusing on the real estate side of life here. Sure, giving away a home in Rome would be much more valuable. But it’s not just about the house.. And it’s not just about you! Sorry to say. Along with this giveaway, we’re going to be looking for ways to support the community in which it is found! Out of more than 7,900 communities in Italy, I’ve selected Sambuca of Sicily as ground zero for this 1 euro home giveaway because frankly… they deserve a bit of love! I hope whoever wins this home finds a way to integrate themselves into the social fabric and learns to appreciate its people. More than that.. You’re all going to experience first hand what it’s like to restore a historical piece of real estate on this blog. As a result, I hope you feel like an honorary resident of Sambuca of Sicily!

Now that we’ve got all that mushy crap over with.. You’re probably wondering how you can win?
Let me start by saying the success of this giveaway requires a large community! That means this community needs to grow. That means this is your chance to help this blog and the Youtube Channel grow. I spent a lot of time thinking about how to incentivize community growth while increasing your possibilities of winning this home while not violating Youtube’s terms and conditions. Let me show you what I came up with.
Since there is no real easy way to track who shares my youtube videos..I decided to build a webapp. And I do mean that I built it myself. This app only holds one function. To allow registered members to share a referral link that gives others the opportunities to become a part of the DauvO community and this giveaway.

At the top of the page, you will find an automatically generated link and by pressing ‘copy’ you can head to your social media network of choice and paste this link in order to share this page to the world! Another caveat to winning is that you have to be eligible to purchase real estate in Italy in order to have the deed transferred into your name upon winning.
